The troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 20 suspected bandits along Abuja Road in the Keffi area of Nasarawa State.
Our correspondent learnt that the bandits were intercepted in a Nissan bus during a routine check by the troops. They were found with 17 locally made guns.
According to the army, the suspects claimed that they were hunters from Adamawa State and that they were going to Abuja for a National Hunters Association scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Weapons recovered from them are, 135 cartridges, two locally made pistols, one locally made knife, three cutlasses, one bow and 38 arrows.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, who confirmed the arrest in a release on Saturday, said preliminary investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities.
