Helicopter Manufacturer That Made Leicester Owner’s Aircraft Reacts To His Death

The manufacturer that made the helicopter owned by Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha have insisted the tragic crash at the King Power Stadium is the first involving one of that model of aircraft.

Srivaddhanaprabha was picked up from the pitch as usual following Leicester’s draw against West Ham in the Premier League.

But disaster struck when the helicopter encountered problems just moments after take-off, plummeting 200 feet into the concrete and bursting into a ball of flames.

It is understood Srivaddhanaprabha was on board the aircraft along with two pilots and two other, as yet unnamed passengers. Italian company Leonardo Helicopter made the AW169 AugstaWestland belonging to the Leicester owner in 2016.

And they have released a statement to say they are ‘saddened’ by the news of the crash:

“Leonardo is extremely saddened to hear of the fatal accident yesterday evening involving an AW169 helicopter at Leicester City Football Club’s stadium. We wish to offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of those involved.

“Leonardo Helicopters is ready to support the AAIB with their investigation to determine the cause of this accident.

“This is the first ever accident involving an AW169 helicopter,” it read.
