Do You Think Davido Actually Deserve The AFRIMA “Artiste Of The Year” Over Wizkid?

So on Sunday, Afrima Award shocked us with their selections.

While Davido won “Best Male (West Africa)“, we were all anticipating a Wizkid win for “Artiste Of The Year“. On all fronts, Wizkid satisfied us better than last year and it was like “Back to Basics” for him after a year of international foray.

With hits like Soco, Nowo, Fake Love, Gucci Snake, Fever, it was a hit laden season for Wizkid compared to last year when we had Jamaican music from the Starboy. Davido too had a nice year, no doubt.

But you would agree with me, Davido’s songs can’t be compared to Wizkid’s own.

  Can you compare Assurance to Soco?

  Or Nwa Baby that wasn’t even a hit?

After a month or two of its release, we all forgot about that Aza record. And if you are thinking about Flora My Flawa, hey just forget about it, that record is trash.

Davido fans, no lies or hate here, Wizkid had more hits than Davido this year. It’s obvious. So when AFRIMA pronounced Davido as Artiste of the Year, it was really shocking and came as a surprise to most of us.

If it was based on last year’s feat, Davido deserved it, but if it’s this year, guys I think the organizers have to rethink their decisions.
