President Akufo-Addo Fires ‘Corrupt’ High Court Judges From Office

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo based on the report by the committee set up to look into the bribery allegations levelled against some Judges has fired four High Court Judges from office.

The fired High Court Judges are, Justice Ayisi Addo, Justice Uuter Paul Dery, and Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh.

Their sack letter was signed and released by Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin on December 6, 2018.

“This was after the Committee established by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, pursuant to Article 146 (4) of the Constitution, to investigate a complaint lodged against the three judges by Mr Anas Aremeyaw Anas, recommended their removal from office.

“The President, in accordance with the provisions of Article 146(9) of the Constitution, has acted on the recommendations of the Committee, as the Constitution enjoins him to do, and has, accordingly, removed the three Justices of the High Court from office on the grounds of bribery and corruption,” said the release.

A thorough investigation will be conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for further actions to be taken against the sacked Judges according to President Akufo-Addo’s directive.
